Joy Tate

Joy Tate joined Secrest, Hill, Butler, & Secrest in 2022. Prior to joining the firm, she worked as an associate attorney with various law firms. Joy mainly handles cases involving professional liability including construction defect cases, medical malpractice, and claims against various professional licenses. She also handles insurance defense cases, including bad faith litigation, and assists in responding to board complaints. She has attended trial, prepared coverage opinions, deposed hundreds of witnesses, and assisted in appellate briefing. Joy is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern and Western Districts of Oklahoma as well as the Tenth Circuit. Joy is a native of Austin, Texas and attended the University of Oklahoma for both undergraduate studies and law school. She earned her Juris Doctorate from OU in 2013, with Honors. She has been named as a Super Lawyer “Rising Star” on multiple occasions. In her free time, Joy is an avid reader and loves to spend time with her husband and two rescue dogs.
